One thing I don't understand - but to be honest I didn't look much into it: why bin Laden, after so much media exposition and leadership, practically disappeared? no more videos, just some audio messages from time to time, no more media presence? Al Zawahiri was much more "present" than him. Was it because the media had the order not to show too much of him, was it because he was not the real leader anymore, was it for his own protection? Just saying, there is something that is not very clear to me.
