Starting today, this blog and all my social pages have a new policy: they are B-free and will rather focus on showing to the world the excellence of Italy.
As many Italians, I had enough. Enough of reading embarrassing accounts, true or false might they be, that involve the leader of my country, enough of finding vulgar articles in the main Italian newspapers (both sides) while amazing things are happening in the world and no one seems to care, enough of starting my day annoyed by the degradation of politics and the constant bitching of politicians who do not have a serious political programme and just fight over ridiculous, irrelevant issues.
But above everything else, I had enough of the global humiliation Italy is currently suffering. You see, until now B.'s boutades and behaviours were mainly accounted to him alone, he was mostly criticized as an individual. But since the last scandal, the tone has changed, and now Italians are criticized to allow him to stay in power. This is, of course, a very legitimate criticism. In fact, he has been elected (several times!) by Italians, and his popularity seems untouched - or even accrued - by the latest scandal. Which is schizophrenic, I know. But what hurts me the most is the unsaid but evident current thinking that if we allow him to stay, it is because deep inside we are all like him. Worldwide, we are not talking anymore about how stupid, or vulgar, or ignorant B. is, we are talking now about how stupid, vulgar and ignorant Italy is. And this is unacceptable.
Italy is a country full of imperfections, I am not denying that. But there is a *universe* of smart and committed people who are making great things, who have ideas, who create opportunities, who did not give up and who will not give up because they love our country and they want it to be better, and they are doing it despite what is happening in Italy right now, and we must support them, and nurture them because the future of our country lies there. It is time to show the excellence of Italy, to show the good things and not only the bad ones, to show to the world that il Belpaese still rocks!

Leggete l'articolo poi guardate i video, tutti e 9 (saranno 15 minuti, via).
